Karin Terpstra, RM
Karin completed a nursing degree at McMaster University in 1995 and worked for a few years as a community nurse in palliative care, but always felt the call to something different. Karin completed her Midwifery degree in August 1999 and practiced for a year with Community Midwives of Brantford. Through the Midwifery Programme, she has worked in many different settings including Hamilton, St. Catharines, Kitchener, Waterloo, St. Jacobs, Guelph, Kingston and The Netherlands. Karin joined Family Midwifery Care of Guelph in January 2001, and has since been blessed with 2 boys and 2 girls of her own, born at home. She loves being their mama and is currently on an extended leave to focus on them while also doing the work of chairing the AOMBT. She has thoroughly enjoyed working in the beautiful and eclectic community of Guelph and surrounding area and looks forward to many more years learning from women and supporting them and their families through what she hopes will be a wondrous and positive experience of pregnancy and birth. Karin feels privileged to serve within the local community as a midwife and to serve the larger midwifery community at the Trust, supporting midwives to do their work.
