Midwife plan members: Your 2015 Member Information Reports are in the mail!
Your MIR is an important resource, reflecting the ways in which your 20% benefits funding was allocated and how your Group Retirement Savings Plan (GRSP) contributions were calculated. If applicable, you will also receive in your package tax receipts for your supplementary fees, health and dental premiums, and self-funded leave account interest income. Please note: your practice will provide you with your total BCC income, and your GRSP receipts come directly from Desjardins. If you are missing any GRSP receipts, you can download these by logging in dfs.ca/participant (click on "Your account").

Figuring out when to retire, how to prepare for retirement, and what your life will look like after, are personal decisions that may be affected by many factors. To help our plan members understand how retirement will affect benefits, we've prepared a Factsheet aimed at plan members expecting to retire in the next 5 years. This factsheet includes information on the maximum age for benefits, options to continue benefits and life insurance coverage after retirement, how retirement will affect your GRSP, and the implications of working a reduced case load leading up to retirement. It also includes links to resources to help guide you through this important life event.

In February 2016, the AOM Benefits Trust presented two webinars developed to help midwives prepare for tax season. Presented by Susan Morrison, a CPA who works with several midwives and practices in central Ontario, the webinar included an overview of the Canadian tax system, considerations specific for self-employed midwives including deductions, expenses and credits, and information about the documents midwives will receive from the Benefits Trust and our partners. The AOM Benefits Trust GRSP investment fund line-up is expanding, providing our plan members with more options for retirement savings.
In keeping with sound governance practices, AOMBT Trustees periodically review the investment options offered in your plan to ensure they are offering an optimal rate of return and to continue to meet your needs. Based on a recent review, we are making changes to the investment fund line-up.

An Individual Pension Plan is a retirement savings tool for incorporated individuals or business owners. An IPP may be an option for you if:
- You are an incorporated midwife
- You are over 45 years old
- Your annual income is over $75,000
