Canada’s New Disability Benefit

June 30, 2025

Effective July 1, 2025, the Canada Disability Benefit will provide eligible Canadians with direct financial support.

To qualify, you must be a Canadian resident between the ages of 18 and 64, have been approved for the Disability Tax Credit, and have filed a 2024 federal income tax return, who is either a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, an individual registered or entitled to be registered under the Indian Act, a protected person, or a temporary resident who has lived in Canada throughout the previous 18 months.

If you qualify, the maximum amount you could receive is $200 per month. Because it’s an income-tested benefit, the exact amount will depend on your adjusted net family income.

If you are on a disability leave, and qualify for the Canada Disability Benefit, your payments from Beneva will not be affected.

If you have any questions about the Canada Disability Benefit and your disability leave payments, please reach out to us, or contact Beneva directly at 1 (855) 747-2233 or email disabilitymanagement@beneva.ca.
