We all face challenges during our lives. Sometimes we could use a little help to deal with those challenges, but it can be tough to know where to turn.
That’s where an often-overlooked benefit can be incredibly helpful. It’s your member and family assistance program (MFAP). Many people have access to similar assistance programs through their work, but may not be aware of the programs’ resources.
What exactly is an MFAP?
Your MFAP, provided through our partner TELUS Health, is a benefits program designed to help you and your family with personal problems that could affect your work performance. MFAP resources are almost always free, for yourself as well as your spouse/partner and children.
What your MFAP offers
The MFAP gives you access to a wealth of resources, including individual and family counselling, financial and legal advice, and more. These resources can help with a variety of challenges, such as:
- Alcohol or substance abuse
- Child care and elder care
- Family and relationship problems
- Stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues
- Domestic violence
- Adoption red tape
They also have an online resource library if you're just looking to improve your knowledge on wellness, want to try a new exercise routine, or just want to do some reading.

The Trust recently changed MFAP providers, so you may not be aware of all the resources that are available through the program. You may be surprised at how much they can help you! Visit one.TELUSHealth.com to access all they have to offer.
