New for midwives: ALAViDA

March 1, 2025

Wellness

Midwifery is a highly rewarding but also highly stressful calling. Some people turn to alcohol or other substances in times of stress. We’re responding to this need by introducing a new resource to help with substance use management: ALAViDA

Provided through the Ministry of Health retention grant, ALAViDA offers a confidential way for you to get support whether you’re dealing with your own substance use concerns, or substance use by a family member. If you’re trying to quit smoking or merely “sober curious,” ALAViDA is there for you.

Effective March 1, you and your dependents* will have access to ALAViDA, a confidential on-demand health benefit for everyone who would like to reevaluate their relationship with alcohol and substance use or support a loved one.

Whether you're looking to drink or use less for the first time, have been trying to quit for years, are supporting a loved one who is struggling or just want to be proactive about your health, ALAViDA can help.

Services will be provided solely by ALAViDA. Your personal information will not be shared with us or anyone else.
*Eligible dependants who are at least the age of majority in their jurisdiction.
