Red Dress Day

May 5, 2023

Equity

May 5 marks Red Dress Day, a National Day of Awareness for missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, transgender, gender-diverse, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S+). We remember and honour those lost and affected by loss, today and always.

If you have been impacted by the loss of a missing or murdered loved one, you can access support from Elders and Knowledge Keepers that is grounded within Indigenous knowledge and healing practices through Safe Passage, a community-driven, trauma-informed, and survivor centered initiative created by the Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC).

Indigenous midwives also have access to a Wellness Spending Account (WSA) tailored to cultural needs, funded by a one-year grant from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, to ease the burden of wellness-related expenses in 2023.
