Happy International Day of the Midwife!

May 5, 2024

Midwifery

Since 1992, International Day of the Midwife has been celebrated each year on May 5. This is our chance for midwives to celebrate the profession and for all of us to recognize the longstanding hard work and contribution to healthcare.

This year's theme is Midwives: A Vital Climate Solution! Health services are responsible for 5% of carbon emissions globally, and midwives can help reduce that! Midwives provide climate-friendly sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn and adolexcent healthcare, reducing the carbon footprint of health services and making them more sustainable and accessible for everyone.

Interested in learning more? The International Confederation of Midwives offers global and regional events, in-person and online, to mark the day and share resources.
