Today, we remember

December 6, 2023

Equity

It has been over 30 years since the murder of 14 young women at Polytechnique Montreal (December 6, 1989). As we remember these fourteen lives, we also take a moment to reaffirm our commitment to a society that is free from gender-based violence.

In Canada and around the world, women, girls, 2SLGBTQIA+ and gender diverse individuals face unacceptable violence and discrimination.

Midwives know the impacts of a patriarchal health system in many ways.

As an almost exclusively female profession providing women- and trans-centered health care, midwives have experienced inequity firsthand.

Today, we call upon you to support one another—those you know, in your places of work or home communities, and those you don’t know in the world around you.
