Trustee Elections Governance

The results of our 2024 Trustee election are in!

Congratulations to returning Trustee Andrea Mills (Alongside Midwifery Unit, Markham Stouffville Hospital), returning Trustee Adriana Fontaine (retired), and our new Trustee: Eileen Abbey (retired). We are looking forward to the knowledge, experience, and perspectives both will bring to the Trust in the coming years.

Andrea Mills has been a Trustee for over ten years, chairing both the Member Services Committee and Finance and Audit Committee. She has a diversity of midwifery experience, having worked in a traditional MPG model, as a locum midwife in rural and remote communities, and is currently a EMCM hospitalist. With her knowledge and experience with the growth and changes at the Trust over the past decade, she is an invaluable asset in continuing the work the Trust has begun with the proposed new benefits funding model, a massive undertaking with the potential to truly improve the programs and services we offer to members.

Adriana Fontaine was previously an AOMBT Trustee from 2020-2023, serving on the Finance and Audit committee. She practised as a midwife starting in 2012, when she graduated from the McMaster MEP, and recently retired. Her many interests include personal finance, financial independence, budgeting, and investments, as well as the field of cybersecurity for both individuals and organizations. She seeks to ensure that members have both the health and wellness tools they need to succeed during their working lives, and the means to achieve a financially successful and secure retirement.

As a former Board member with the AOM representing the North and holding the position of Chief Midwife at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for six years, Eileen Abbey understands both the pressures midwives face due to the demanding work inherent in midwifery, as well as the need to work with limited dollars and market forces. Originally from the UK and of mixed-race heritage, she brings both experience and a fresh perspective to the Trust.

Congratulations to Andrea, Adriana, and Eileen. Thank you to everyone who voted, for engaging with us in this important process!
